New programme at EFI established

European Forest Institute (EFI) has launched a new programme, Forest for Society. The previous Forest Policy and Governance Programme will expand its profile by covering also forest policy and governance, social and economic aspects of European forestry, including the motivations of different stakeholders, as well as the socio-economic nature of forest products and services.

New ideas for Forest Governance in Europe

A high-level seminar on European Forest Governance: Issues at Stake and the Way Forward brought together a full house of leading forest policy scientists and decision makers to discuss the European architecture of forest-related policies and mechanisms. The interim results of the ThinkForest study on Forest Governance in Europe, the first study to systematically collect knowledge about the current status of European governance and new and innovative ideas on how to alleviate policy problems, were presented at the event.

New EFI Project Centre launched!

Earlier this month, European Forest Institute (EFI) and the Edmund Mach Foundation (FEM) signed the Memorandum of Understanding that launched the newest EFI Project Centre Preserving and Enhancing the Multifunctionality of Mountain Forests - MOUNTFOR.

Whether photography is your passion, hobby or just an occasional pastime, we invite you to participate in the EFI 20th anniversary photo contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of your favourite forests. The winning photos will be displayed on EFI’s Facebook page and on our 20th anniversary website. The contest will run during 2013, and each month one lucky winner will be picked to receive a small EFI gift. The overall winner will be chosen during January 2014.
