New Executive Director at IUFRO
Alexander Buck, who has been serving IUFRO as Deputy Executive Director since December 2003 and has also been coordinating the IUFRO-led Global Forest Expert Panels initiative of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests since 2007, will take up his new post on 1 December 2010 following the departure of Peter Mayer who assumed the office of Director General of the Austrian Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape.
Alexander studied forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, and law at the University of Vienna, Austria. Through his employments with the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Forest Europe (previously known as "Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe") and IUFRO, Alexander has acquired profound expertise in international forest activities.
