EFICEEC-EFISEE open its doors next month

During this summer EFI increased its activities in the South-East Europe by taking steps towards the establishment of the EFI South-East European Office, EFISEE, in Croatia. For the first two years EFISEE operates jointly with the EFI Central-East European Regional Office, EFICEEC, forming Central and South East European Regional Office – EFICEEC- EFISEE.The opening event of the South-East European Office (EFISEE) will take place on 21 November 2012 in Varaždin, Croatia.

14 positions of Early Stage Researchers within a Marie Curie Initial Training Network are now open!

The Careers in Sustainability Excellence (CASTLE) consortium invites applications for 14 full-time research vacancies for early stage researchers (ESR). CASTLE is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network coordinated by EFI and it will start on 1 November 2012. The vacancies are now open and the deadline for applications is 31 December 2012.

This database will act as a networking tool, providing valuable information on the forest-related expertise available in organisations across Europe. Submit your information now! EFICENT takes stakeholders to experience forest management from research to practice

2012 has been a year of unusually high fire activities in the Pyrenees and has increased the local interest in fire management in remote and steep terrain. During the annual EFICENT forest management study tour, representatives from the regional governments in the Spanish Pyrenees were able to experience forest management from research to practise first hand.

EFI Winter & Summer School 2013: Making values work – ‘sustaining multiple values in managed forests'. The WSS II will take place at two different forest management situations – industrial forests in the Aquitaine region around Bordeaux France (WEEK 1; March 2013), and alpine forests in Austria (WEEK 2; September 2013). Students will explore these two forest management types based on different cultural histories, socio-economic characteristics and environmental conditions.
