European forests provide various goods and services for the people. While wood is the most prominent, also game, cork, mushrooms and greenery are important in many regions. Despite their importance, many goods and services are not marketed.

Open post at EFI: Head of FLEGT&REDD Unit

EFI has opened a vacancy for Head of Unit for the FLEGT&REDD facilities, located in Barcelona. We are seeking a senior professional with strong international leadership and management experience to work together with a group of dynamic, committed experts to lead and develop further both facilities in the context of increasing importance of forests in the international environmental and climate policy.

Many of these changes originate outside the sector itself: the need to move societies towards a more resource-efficient bioeconomy, the new economic role of Europe in a globalised world, and the impact of new technologies. Against this background, ThinkForest discusses 'Forests and the bioeconomy: Future steps' in the European Parliament on 13 November 2014.
