Coming up: EFI Project Centre inauguration

SURF is an initiative of the European Forest Institute (EFI) jointly organised by the University of Hamburg and the University of Leuven. The Project Centre is focusing on the global initiatives "Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD)" and "Forest Law Enforcement for Governance and Trade (FLEGT)"

SURF will support the sustainable management of tropical forests and the abatement of illegal logging by engaging researchers from forest, social and environmental sciences in collaborations that encompass researchers from EFI member organisations. The Project Centre works with affiliated scientists in order to carry out joint exploration of strategies in the scope of REDD and FLEGT, and coordinates activities and collaborations both at the University of Hamburg and at the University of Leuven and serves as a platform for EFI member organisations.

If you would like to participate in the inaugural meeting, please register by 5 March 2014 (email: weltforst@uni-hamburg.de).
