Regional Offices gathered at the EFI Headquarters

EFI’s Regional Office staff and other representatives joined the Headquarters’ staff for the first week of June for co-ordination, planning, and learning the EFI procedures and practices. The programme included joint sessions and workshops on issues such as R&D, administration and communication. Warm thanks to all who contributed to, helped, participated, inspired and jointly planned this event!

Annual Conference: register now!

EFI 2009 Annual Conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 3–5 September. Already over a hundred registrations have come in to this major networking event. More information and the registration form can be found at EFI website.

FTP Team Up Award

The Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform (FTP) promotes science-business collaboration in the forest-based sector. In order to support this objective, FTP Management has decided to install a special award to recognise excellent science-economy collaboration which demonstrates an outstanding partnership between a research organisation and a company.

Adapting to climate change requires new forest management strategies

Which trees can adapt best to climate change – this is one of the key questions which the newly started project “MOdels for AdapTIVE forest Management” (MOTIVE) is trying to answer. MOTIVE investigates adaptive management strategies that address climate and land use change. It also examines the impacts of these changes with respect to a broad range of forest goods and services. The project focuses on a wide range of European forest types under different intensities of forest management. Specific attention will be given to uncertainties and risks and how they can be considered in improved decision support tools.

Open positions in EU FLEGT Facility

EFI’s Policy and Governance Programme is hosting and managing the EU FLEGT Facility, which has the role of supporting the implementation of the EU Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan.

EU FLEGT Facility is now seeking for two specialists; one in governance and one in communications.
