New EFI Policy Brief looks at the challenges of adaptive forest management

Accounting for climate change in forest management is a challenge for many forest managers, owners and decision makers around Europe. In order to make timely decisions, they need solid information on e.g. climate change projections and uncertainties, forest health, pests and diseases, tools for running different forest management scenarios as well as information on successful adaptation measures in their regions.

Report on private and public forest ownership in Europe published

Information on the spatial distribution of forest ownership is needed not only in the forestry sector but in general for activities related to forest ownership. A newly published report “Mapping the distribution of forest ownership in Europe” by Pamela Pulla, Andreas Schuck, Pieter Johannes Verkerk, Bruno Lasserre, Marco Marchetti and Tim Green contributes to a better knowledge of forest ownership distribution in the 47 European countries through a thorough data collection, analysis and visual presentation.

Free access to EFISCEN and ToSIA with Trees4Future

EFI’s EFISCEN and ToSIA models are two of the 28 research facilities (models, genetic databanks, laboratory facilities) on offer to researchers via the Trees4Future project’s Call for Transnational Access. Researchers can apply to use the facilities and visit EFI’s headquarters in Joensuu to receive training. Access is free, and support for travel and subsistence is offered.
