21 ratifications on the EFI Convention

As Luxembourg has ratified the Convention on the European Forest Institute, it brings the total to 21 ratifications by European countries. EFI would like to thank its Associate Members in the ratifying countries for their support and efforts in the ratification processes.

The ratifying countries are now Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the UK.

The ratifying countries meet every three years in EFI Council. The next Council meeting is scheduled for 2011 and it will be held in Croatia. Also the chairmanship of the Council will then shift from Spain to Croatia.

FTP-Update now available

The 15th issue of FTP-Update, the electronic newsletter of the Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform, offers up-to-date information about the FTP Conference 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden. The full programme for this event, to be held in Stockholm during 9–11 November of this year, is now available. A host of leading speakers from industry, science and government will shine their light on the theme 'From Research to Business'. Moreover, a special Researchers' Forum will be organised prior to the main conference.

Northern ToSIA launches website

The Northern ToSIA project will adapt a decision support tool that supports sustainable development with its economic, social and environmental dimensions to specific regional requirements. The project will encourage a multi-stakeholder dialogue throughout the life-time of the project to identify and address sustainability issues in the Northern Periphery Programme (NPP) region, to direct the tool development activities, and to explore alternative regional development strategies with a range of key stakeholders, and to create a quantitative basis for open discussion.


EFI 2009 Annual Conference: register before 21 August

EFI 2009 Annual Conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland on 3–5 September 2009. Please note that the registration closes on 21 August.
