Northern ToSIA Final Conference coming up in August!
Over the last three years, the Northern ToSIA project has developed new ways to assess the sustainability of forest based activities in Northern Europe. A key focus of the Conference will be ToSIA – the Tool for Sustainability Impact Assessment – which has been developed and applied across the region with funding from the EU Northern Periphery Programme. Drawing on case studies in Finland (North Karelia), Sweden (Malå Sami Village), Norway (Indre Helgeland) and Scotland (Cairngorms National Park), it will be demonstrated how the results of the project can help decision-makers balance the demands of different aspects of forestry, for example timber production, wildlife management and recreation.
More information and how to register is available on Northern ToSIA website.
Northern ToSIA is lead by the European Forest Institute, and case studies are implemented by partners Forestry Centre of North Karelia (Finland), Forest Research / Forestry Commission (Scotland), Department of Forest Ecology and Management, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences SLU (Sweden ) and Department of Agriculture, County Governor of Nordland (Norway).
