The Sant Pau Art Nouveau complex was built between 1905 and 1930. The site, originally part of the Sant Pau hospital, was designed by Lluis Domenech i Montaner as a garden city for patients. After serving a century as a public hospital, the modernist pavilions now host leading institutions in the fields of sustainability, health and education including Casa Asia, Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi), Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), United Nations University and World Health Organisation (WHO) . EFI Barcelona is located in the Sant Leopold Pavilion, housing EFIMED and the EFI FLEGT and REDD Units.
The Sant Pau Art Nouveau site will hold an Open House for 3 weeks following the Inauguration Ceremony and members of the public will be allowed to visit the Site and some of the common spaces in the Administration pavilion.
