Visit Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site: EFIMED Week 2013
Designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and built between 1905 and 1930, the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1978, and subsequently recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997, due to its unique construction and beauty.
A major restoration project has been underway since autumn 2009 to convert the site, formerly the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, into modern offices and meeting facilities, while retaining the architectural and artistic value of the original buildings. International research and study organisations, institutions, networks and groups working in the areas of education, health, sustainability and innovation will be housed in the newly restored pavilions.
The aim is to provide a platform connecting agents and experiences in order to promote research, activities and debate on important current and future global issues, with a multidisciplinary focus, in a single space.EFIMED Week 2013 will be the first event to take place at this new venue and participants will have the opportunity to see the beautiful Art Nouveau tiling and ornate decoration at close quarters. EFIMED will also celebrate the inauguration of their new offices in the Sant Leopold pavilion to where EFI Barcelona will move in August.
