EFIMED Week Registrations Now Open!

EFIMED and the Technical Institute of Kavala welcome you to Greece for the EFIMED Annual Meeting and Scientific Seminar 2014, which will be held in Kavala, Northern Greece.
You can now register for this event by following this link and completing the form.

This year’s event will open with the EFIMED Annual Meeting (AM) during which discussions will take place on the strategic direction of the organisation over the coming years, within the context of developments at EFI and in the Mediterranean network. The AM will include a networking session, updates on projects and Calls and offers members the opportunity to present their ideas and views. The Meeting will also include a presentation of successful collaborative projects in the FORESTERRA ERA-net, alongside synergies and the impacts of research with other related initiatives.

The Scientific Seminar, “Profitable wood production in the Mediterranean: future or fantasy?” will explore the theme of innovative and profitable wood production in the Mediterranean. This year’s confrimed keynote speakers include Professor Massimo Fragiacomo from the University of Sassari-Alghero, Dr. Nike Krajnc of the Slovenian Forestry Institute and Elena Gorriz from EFIMED-CTFC and the University of Padova-Lleida. Presentations will cover innovative uses of Mediterranean wood for products and energy, possibilities for cost effective wood mobilisation in Mediterranean forests and human and social dimensions of forest innovation. A draft programme is now available here.

The Scientific Seminar also offers the chance to explore real issues based on practical experience in a World Café format. EFIMED has opened a call for Case Studies on success stories of innovative business models in Mediterranean Forests. Successful applicants will be invited to present their Case Study on the day of the Scientific Seminar and to discuss opportunities and challenges with meeting participants. The deadline for Case Study applications is 31 July, 2014.

Information for participants, including the registration fees, can be found here. Early bird registrations are available until 26 September, 2014. Keep up to date by checking the EFIMED Week page here.

We look forward to seeing you in Kavala!
