The Short Scientific Visit awardees 2013

EFIMED offers grants for Short Scientific Visits for young researchers. These visits provide a unique opportunity for interested candidates to get involved in international level forest research and research co-operation.

This year’s Short Scientific Visits will be hosted by institutions in Frace, Italy and Spain and cover a range of topics in forest research.

Alessandro Leonardi’s visit will test the viability of payments for hydrological services in Europe and research a case study from the EU, with a focus on Italy and the UK, hosted by EFIMED.

Khaoula Ben Baaziz was hosted by the INRA in France; more information on her report on techniques to measure embolism in plants can be found below.

Teresa de los Bueis Mellado will visit forest plantations in Northern Spain to research the relationship between enzyme activity in soils and productivity of Pinus sylvestris L. and Pinus halepensis Mill.

Uzay Karahalil will study the use of modeling techniques in determination of carbon storage for a Mediterranean Protected Area in Köprülü Canyon National Park Antalya, Turkey.
