EFIMED marketplace_250.jpg : 54.802734375KbIn a session which celebrated the diversity and breadth of EFIMED’s membership, partners from Croatia, France, Greece, Spain and the USA introduced aspects of their current work in relation to one of the four FORESTERRA strategic themes.

These included presentations on air pollutants, carbon & ozone sequestration, forest restoration after fire, soil biodiversity, adaptive variation & environmental changes and education programmes on global change impacts on cork forests. There were also overviews on establishing a knowledge base for national forest policy development and implementation in Greece, field research infrastructure in Croatia and on forest systems and resources management in Spain.

Two projects were presented with specific calls for collaboration:

ALFA: aimed at developing low price bio-fuel for various uses in the north of Africa. Partners interested in collaborating should get in touch with the ALFA project coordinator, Joël Poustis: More information

HOTMED: aimed at integrating the effects of global change at the Mediterranean Basin scale through an assessment of the hot spots of forest ecosystem goods and services and their vulnerability. A brain-storming session followed the Market Place presentations with contributions from participants on aspects for development / consideration in the HOTMED project. Partners interested in forming a consortium to apply for ERA-Net funding under the FORESTERRA “Global Change” strategic theme should get in touch with the HOTMED project coordinator, Enrique Doblas: e.doblas (at) creaf.uab.es

Market Place presentations will soon be available for download from the EFIMED website.
