Making values work - EFI Winter Summer School
The summer edition of EFI’s first Winter Summer School (WSS) took place in Varazdin (Croatia) from September 18-24th. The FOPER project (Consolidation of the Human Capacities in Forest Policy and Economics Education and Research in the South-East Europe Region) hosted the event as part of its networking activity.
Under the inspiring title “Making values work”, 20 highly motivated PhD students from 15 countries with a variety of academic backgrounds looked at the ever-shifting perspectives posed by the social, ecological and economic changes facing the environment and the forests. Departing from the learning exchange experience and lectures from the winter school edition in Freiburg (Germany) last March, the students developed their research skills and presented their work through oral presentations, discussions and a poster session. The event allowed them to go deep into the discussion of the multiplicity of values held by forests, with varied perspectives provided both by the lecturers and the students.
We invite you to read the diary of the course and check the presentations.
