Paul Brannen

Paul Brannen is a Labour Member of the European Parliament for the North East of England, a full member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and a substitute member of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. A graduate of Leeds University, Paul worked for the Anti-Apartheid Movement in London, then as a press officer for the Labour Party. After the 1992 General Election he became Christian Aid's first ever Head of Campaigns, leading their work on fair trade. He later worked for Christian Aid as Head of Advocacy. He was elected as an MEP in 2014. His main areas of interests include climate change mitigation and adaptation, forestry and rural development.

Lauri Hetemäki

Lauri Hetemäki is the Assistant Director at the European Forest Institute and a part-time Professor in Forest Sector Foresight at the Faculty of Science and Forestry, University of Eastern Finland. He is responsible for EFI's policy support activities. His research interests are foresight studies, forest sector outlook studies, and forest products and bioenergy markets. He has extensive experience in coordinating forest sector outlook studies and policy support work, and is the author of over 180 scientific and popular publications.

Anders Hildeman

Anders Hildeman

Anders Hildeman is the Global Forestry Manager of IKEA. He coordinates a global network of forestry specialists, supporting the business to ensure that the wood that is used in IKEA products meets the company’s sustainability requirements. More than 13 million cubic meters of wood is sourced annually in order to supply IKEA products. He also coordinates IKEA-funded projects in 13 different countries where the aim is to improve the standards of forest management. Previously he was the Senior Vice President, Environment and Public Affairs, at SCA, a Swedish forest and hygiene products company.

Ragnar Jonsson

Ragnar Jonsson is an expert in forest products market analysis and modelling. He has worked for the FAO, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and the European Commission Joint Research Centre.

Jussi Viitanen

Jussi Viitanen is Head of the FLEGT and REDD Unit at the European Forest Institute from 1 April 2015. EFI hosts the EU FLEGT Facility and the EU REDD Facility, which support partner countries, the European Commission, EU Delegations and EU Member States in the implementation of the EU FLEGT Action Plan and REDD+ Activities. Previously he worked as the Deputy Head of Unit of the FLEGT and REDD Unit since 2011 where he was responsible for the operative management of the unit and fundraising. Prior to joining EFI in 2010, he worked for the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs as senior forest sector adviser.
