Main Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance in assessment, design, and implementation of Legality Assurance Systems consisting of (i) legality definition, (ii) control of the timber supply chain, (iii) legality verification, (iv) FLEGT licensing and (v) independent monitoring
- Assess existing control structures and capacities of the government and private sector in the FLEGT partner countries; identify gaps and development needs
- Carry out analytic studies and prepare guidelines
Personal Background:
- Master of Science (Forestry), University of Helsinki
- Trained lead auditor: management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001/EMAS and OHSAS 18001), forest management and chain of custody
- Key qualifications: sustainable forest management, certification, environmental impact assessment, timber procurement, industrial development, market studies and financial and economic analysis
- Work experience in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America
