Objectives
Forest fires are one of the most important hazards in Mediterranean forests. Due to their potential increase in frequency and intensity, due to climate change, wildfires are a challenge to be addressed by all forest and fire managers, using the most updated techniques and experiences.
The global aim of this Training School is to disseminate knowledge on fire ecology and post-fire management to early stage researchers (ESR) from Mediterranean countries, namely
(a) to teach about the newest models and tools to predict fire occurrence, propagation and damage;
(b) to teach forest stand and landscape management techniques for minimizing fire damage; and
(c) to teach the basic principles and approaches for post fire restoration.
