The Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve extends across an area of 3,000 hectares between the regions of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. It protects large areas of woodland in a countryside made up of hills predominant with mixed oak forests. The field trip gives a possibility to get to know the silvicultural treatments of coppices, pine reforestation, forest fire prevention and ecotourism in the area.
The second topic enlightens the wood co-operation in the area from the forest to industrial plant. We will stop in a forest with regular silvicultural measures such as thinning etc., and after that we will visit a sawmill.
