More than a third of Europe’s land area is covered by forests. They play numerous roles for economy, society and environment. They are also under pressure: climate change weakens trees and induces species shifts in several locations. Wood gains value as it is a sustainable and ecological resource, but increased harvest levels raise issues about forest management. How will scientists and decision makers meet these challenges? Taking the opportunity to be in Nancy for the European Forest Institute annual conference, three forest experts answer your questions about forests in Europe of tomorrow.

With the participation of:

Ms. Nathalie Milion (moderator), journalist at France Bleu

Dr. Jean-Luc Peyron, GIP-ECOFOR, France

Prof. Dr. Marc Hanewinkel, Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL, Switzerland.

Mr. Christopher Prins, former Section Chief of the Timber Section, UNECE.
