06.11.2017

Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO and the European Forest Institute (EFI) are arranging a series of open discussions on the European and Russian cooperation opportunities in bioeconomy development in 2017-2019.  The first discussion will take place on 9 November 2017 and bringing together European and Russian leading bioeconomy experts to discuss the topic "Policy, business-models and human capital for bioeconomy: Identifying opportunities”.

The development of bioeconomy in Russia is a new opportunity to ensure sustainable investment and economic growth, employment of the population in sectors, which are safer for the health and environment and the solution of environmental problems. Now is the best time to transform the Russian economy from the state of dependence on fossil resources and to move towards a sustainable, low-carbon and cyclical bioeconomy based on the integrated use of biological resources. At the same time, the need to popularize the concept of bioeconomy in Russia and its potentially unlimited opportunities for business and the state is obvious. International cooperation and the exchange of best practices could help create the conditions for a sustainable and consistent development of bioeconomy in Russia.

The speakers of the event include, among others, Sergei Ivanov, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport: Esko Aho,
