Event for EFI member organisations on synergies in FLEGT-REDD activities

tropical_timber_siw.jpg : 53Kb EFI’s FLEGT-REDD Unit is organizing a special event to EFI member organisations on ‘Synergies in FLEGT-REDD activities’ -meeting in Barcelona, Spain, on 12–13 April 2012. The objective of the meeting is to identify and discuss the potential synergies and cooperation between ongoing work of EFI's FLEGT and REDD Unit. There is a special focus on REDD+ related policy options and governance challenges. EU FLEGT Facility will provide key lessons learned from Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) processes.

Programme/Modus operandi: 


1. Introduction (presentation and discussion)

  • Scope and lessons learned from EU FLEGT Facility's work
  • Introduction of EU REDD Facility
  • Future challenges of FLEGT and REDD+ work

2. EFI's Associate and Affiliate Members

  • ongoing research and capacities on REDD (and FLEGT) (presentations and discussion)

3. Other strategic partners

  • ongoing research and capacities on REDD (and FLEGT) (presentations and discussion)

4. Bilateral/group discussions

  • topics and focus tbc

5. Wrap-up and way forward

The meeting begins on Thursday 12 April at 12 o’clock CET and ends on Friday 13 April at 2 p.m. CET. Venue: Institut d'Estudis Catalans, Carrer del Carme 47, 08001 Barcelona. (The venue is located in the centre of Barcelona.) More information on the programme will be provided by early March.
