The Head of Programme (Ilpo Tikkanen) represents EFI, as the coordinator of advocacy function, at the Work Group on Legally Binding Agreement on forests and Expert Level Meetings of Forest Europe in preparation for the Oslo Ministerial Conference held in June 2011 as well as at Advisory Group on Forestry and Cork of the EC. He also acts as Editor-in-Chief of the Policy Briefs series of EFI. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Metsämiesten Säätiö Foundation in Finland as a representative of research, and the expert of the Advisory Board for International Forest Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Finland.
The Head of Programme coordinates the Think Tank initiative with the aim of establishing a high-level discussion and information sharing forum for the science-policy-practice interaction between European Parliament, the Commission, EFI Members and Forest Europe key actors.
