The aim of this project was to estimate carbon balance implications of typical wood production chain (including both production and procurement), production and use of wood products. With this kind of assessment it is possible to estimate impact of forestry on climate change mitigation.
Simulation models, which the partners have developed, were utilized and further developed in this project. These models allow to assess how changes in the chain affect on carbon stocks and carbon balance, i.e. changes in forest management and wood procurement, in production and use of wood products.
The project was funded by the Ministry of Environment and the Technology Development Center, and it was part of the Environmental Cluster Research Program.
