The entry to Finland of foreign nationals are subject to the Schengen Acquis. As a rule, foreign nationals who need an entry visa are requested to apply it from the Finnish mission that represents Finland in their home country.
Travelling to Joensuu
From Helsinki by train:
A train from Helsinki to Joensuu takes appr. 5 hours. Cost for a one-way ticket is appr. 70 €, however, competitive offers might be available depending on how early the tickets are booked.
From Helsinki by plane:
A flight from Helsinki to Joensuu takes appr. 1 hour. Schedules can be checked and flights booked through Finnair. The cost for a return flight Helsinki - Joensuu - Helsinki varies between 90 - 400 € depending on the time of the day and how early the tickets are booked.
Transportation Joensuu airport to/from Joensuu
Joensuu Airport is located in the municipality of Liperi about 11 kilometres from Joensuu city centre
Taxi fares from the airport to the city cost appr. 20 € and the trip takes 15 minutes. Taxis wait for the arrival of planes. If there are no taxis available you can call the taxi dispatching office: +358 (0)600 90100.
There is a regular bus connection between the city center and Joensuu Airport operated by Savo-Karjalan Linja Oy. For schedules, please visit their website. The bus fare is c. 5 € (cash only). NOTE! There is currently no bus transportation available on weekends and public holidays.
