Call for Scientific Advisory Board member candidates

31.05.2017

The Board of the European Forest Institute (EFI) is looking for candidates to fulfil four (4) Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) memberships.

The SAB proactively and independently advises the Board and EFI management on any matter pertaining to the scientific or policy support activities of EFI. The SAB contributes to (i) the quality of EFI’s research and policy support activities and outputs, (ii) enhancement of the transparency of processes at EFI, (iii) helping to mobilize the EFI network. The SAB works as an independent body and it reports to the Board of EFI.

The SAB members will be appointed for a three-year period with the possibility of a three-year extension. The membership period starts from the Board’s decision. The SAB members work on voluntary basis.

The SAB members should be internationally known experts with considerable achievements and experience in their fields. The Board will also consider geographical balance, policy support experience and diversity of research fields. To maintain the capacity of the SAB to meet the current and future needs of EFI, candidates with scientific expertise in core EFI themes (bioeconomy, resilience and governance) as well as candidates with considerable policy support experience are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidates do not have to be from EFI member organisations.

To avoid any conflict of interest, the candidates may not be EFI staff members. In addition, the candidates are asked to explicitly declare their possible conflicts of interest by listing their current direct connections with EFI and its various bodies (such as those with EFI Project Centres etc.).

Interested candidates are requested to send their full CV and a signed Letter of Interest and Commitment (see the link below) by 31 July 2017 by using the online application form. The Board of EFI will select the new SAB members in October 2017.
