EFI Network Fund
An exciting initiative to promote pan-European research collaboration was unveiled at the EFI 2017 Annual Conference. The EFI Network Fund is a unique instrument which will provide funding exclusively for EFI Associate and Affiliate Members.
The Fund supports networking activities like joint research initiatives, knowledge networking and capacity building, focusing on EFI’s three strategic themes: bioeconomy, resilience and governance. Funding can be spent on coordination, travel, events, short visits and dissemination.
The next call is planned to be opened in 2020-2021.
In the last call (2017), to be eligible, a proposal required at least 4 EFI member organisations from at least 4 different European regions. Non-EFI member organisations could join as partners, but did not receive any reimbursement. The maximum Network Fund contribution in the last call was for each proposal is €100k.
In 2017, the Evaluation Panel, consisted of Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members and the Heads of EFI programmes, who evaluated the scientific quality of the proposals and the Board made the decision to fund five proposals:
- ENGAGING – Engaging owners of small private forests in active management
Coordinator: Robert Jandl, Austrian Forest Research Center, Austria
