The joint EC and ESA programme, Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), targeted the consolidation of Earth Observation methods and products and an outreach to users of such products. Geoland2 intended to constitute a major step forward in the implementation of the GMES Land Monitoring Core Service (LMCS) with local, continental and global components. The goal of Geoland2 was firstly to prepare, validate and demonstrate pre-operational service chains and products that will underpin the LMCS, and secondly to propose and demonstrate a concrete functional organisation of the LMCS.
EFI was a partner in this project and contributed to Forest User Interface and Forest Service Consolidation parts of the project. EFI also contributed to project communication, training and dissemination of materials.
